Yesterday I was trying to find excuses not to study so I checked out the snowboarding store in the University plaza. I ended up going with Ian and walked out with a new set of Burton Command SI bindings and boots.
Now I can have more distractions tweaking and mounting them onto my board!
The workload is definitely getting heavier with lab reports and design projects. Also, midterms in 2 weeks. Yikes.

This weekend Vivian and Scarlette came to Waterloo to take some pictures for Viv’s project. The theme is to create a poster for a line of skin care products. We had to be really creative with the props and had to ‘borrow’ my roommate’s hairdryer…
These shots were taken at the local mall. We had to work around the curious crowd and security guards.

Now this one looks more like a shampoo advertisement.

|
A more high key approach.

This is the setup in my room for the previous shot. We couldn’t stop laughing because it was so ghetto!

This is one of my first attempts with artificial lighting and it was very challenging but also opened up a lot of new possibilities.
If you have any comments or suggestions I would love to hear about them!
So with no landline at the house this term I have finally caved in and got myself a cellphone. I do think it is about time that people can get a hold of me when I am not at home.
Elvin went with me to 7-Eleven and I bought the phone for the basic pay-as-you-go plan. I like its simplicity and no need to commit to a contract. We bought a few of the 1/4lb hot dogs and loaded it up with fake cheese and chili, the people working there thought we hadn’t eaten for 2 days or something…
It is amazing how many devices we carry with us when we walk out the door. I wonder how people in the old days (hehe) studied or shared information without email, internet, cellphone, etc. Maybe they actually focus on the material instead of playing with ringtones….
Last week I attended CUTC at the Downtown Hilton Hotel. I was a little disappointed that many of the companies giving out presentations didn’t even bother talk about upcoming technologies but blatantly sell their company for a solid hour. There were a few good seminars and the Tech-team challenge was pretty interesting.
*Note: I don’t have my SLR in Waterloo at the moment, I have to make sure my room is safe before I will bring it up. Right now I am having fun with the little F30. :)

Several of us managed to squeeze in a snowboarding trip over the break. It was good times hitting the hills and I think I am starting to feel more comfortable carving and keeping a reasonable speed.
When I say RIP-OFF I really mean it. This ‘crispy chicken sandwich’ costs $5.29. Next time I am bringing my own food!
Back in Waterloo for my 3B term. Packing up and moving was the hardest part. Though it is great to see my classmates and enjoy the first week of class!
The old gallery is down for now, a simpler substitute is in the works right now.
Meanwhile, I created this Gallery with the Charity Ball photos. You can drag the photos around and double click to enlarge them.
