Kensington Market – Festival of Lights 2013

Winter Solstice, longest night of the year, we gathered at Kensington Market after dark to join in the parades and celebrations.

After some fanfare, the procession started on their parade path. Carmen & I joined in and follow the drum beats.

Super cool Ikea Monkey lantern!

The group circling the flaming centerpiece after setting it on fire.

Even in the cold freezing rain, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the performers or their fires!

This time I used only the K-5 and FA31mm Ltd. The lens is a monster in low light conditions and was wide enough to capture the setting.

It is interesting to look back at images from previous years. Each time the equpment and post processing leads to a very different snapshot of the event.
