Snowplate 2011 – Swashbuckling Golasz Chefs

March 8, 2011

Mom: Where are you going?
Me: Sudbury (3.5hr north of Toronto)
Mom: What are you doing there?
Me: Frisbee…outdoors, with snow.

And that is what I did in the past weekend. Meeting up with teams from all over Ontario in 1ft of snow chasing a Frisbee. But it was fun!

We were the Swashbuckling Golasz Chefs, a merger between pirates and goulash chefs.

Saturday 8:30AM, getting ready. Everyone putting on triple layers and snowpants.

Hung showing off his (patent pending) double-walled plastic bag with dress shoes crampons.

It was snowing heavily, providing a constant supply of fresh powder to dive on.

Kevin show us how it is done, leaps out behind the defender to score a point.

Jumping into knee-deep snow to find the disc.

Snowplate humus & bagel lunch!

“Would you like to walk the plank…please?”

Ludwik laying out to save the disc!

“YYYARRRRRR”

I accumulated various items over the weekend, like a pirate cape and bunny hats.

Damian catching some air!

Our trophy and spirit prizes!

Relaxing on the sidelines after!

We played a total of 6 games and ended with a 3-3 record. It was so much fun and full of spirit, until next year!

Rogers Cup – Nadal vs Anderson

August 15, 2010

We arrived at the venue a little early so we watched the last tail end of the game between Victor Hanescu and Novak Djokovic.

This was my first experience watching tennis live. I was amazed at the speed of the ball and the players’ ability to react.

Novak Djokovic won the game 6-3, 6-4.

The main court held the match between Rafael Nadal and Kevin Anderson.

Kevin is over 2m tall and served consistently over 200km/hr! Nadal was able to return the serves effortlessly.

The crowd cheering for the players. It was nice that the audience would quiet down and show respect during the rallies.

Nadal serving in the final set.

The final result was 6-2, 7-6(6). Good game!

Team Allegro – Winter TUC Season

April 28, 2010

The season finally ended but we had a terrific finish when we beat our nemisis, The Green Machine, at the play-offs.
Photos were taken with the Fuji Instax200 Camera, classic.

Thanks for a great season and all the 11pm games!

How Carnivals are Born

August 16, 2009

CNE, Canadian National Exhibition, is opening in less than a week, I happened to walk by while they were assembling the various rides and booths.

Very interesting to see how the rides fold together and for transporting to different venues.

Advanced tickets are $11, anyone interested?
